The information, calculations, and thread identification results provided by ThreadChaser (the "App") are furnished by ThreadChaser ("Developer") on an "as is" and "as available" basis, for general informational and reference purposes only.
Nothing in the App constitutes professional engineering advice, certified metrology output, a formal conformance assessment, or a warranty of fitness for any specific application or purpose. The Developer makes no representations or warranties, express or implied, as to the accuracy, reliability, completeness, or suitability of any information or result produced by the App.
2. No Engineering or Professional Advice
ThreadChaser is not a substitute for qualified engineering judgment. Thread identification and selection for any structural, mechanical, pressure-containment, safety-critical, or load-bearing application must be carried out or reviewed by a suitably qualified engineer or technician using certified instruments and applicable technical standards.
The Developer is not a registered engineering firm and no content within the App should be interpreted as constituting engineering advice or opinion.
3. Measurement Accuracy and Database Limitations
Thread matching results are computed by comparing user-entered dimensions against a reference database of nominal thread values. The accuracy of any result is therefore subject to:
- The accuracy and calibration of the measuring instruments used by the user;
- The accuracy of the values entered by the user;
- The inherent tolerance bands of each thread standard, which the App approximates but does not formally model in their entirety;
- Database currency — thread standards are periodically revised and the App's database may not reflect the most recent amendment to any given standard;
- The simplified matching algorithm used, which compares major diameter and pitch only and does not evaluate all tolerance parameters (e.g. pitch diameter, minor diameter, surface finish, class of fit) defined by the relevant standard.
4. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, the Developer expressly excludes all liability for any loss or damage of any kind — including but not limited to:
- Personal injury or death;
- Property damage or destruction;
- Equipment failure, mechanical failure, or structural failure;
- Economic loss, loss of profits, loss of business, or loss of data;
- Any consequential, indirect, incidental, punitive, or special damages —
arising directly or indirectly from:
- Reliance on any thread identification result, measurement, or recommendation produced by the App;
- Errors, omissions, or inaccuracies in the App's reference database;
- Use of the App in connection with any engineering, manufacturing, repair, maintenance, or safety-critical work;
- Any failure of the App to correctly identify a thread standard;
- The use of incorrectly identified or mismatched threads in any application.
This limitation of liability applies regardless of the form of action — whether in contract, tort (including negligence), strict liability, or otherwise — and even if the Developer has been advised of the possibility of such damages.
In jurisdictions that do not permit the complete exclusion of liability, the Developer's total liability shall be limited to the fullest extent permitted by law and in no event shall exceed the amount paid by you for the App (or AU$1.00 if the App was downloaded free of charge).
5. Third-Party Standards and Intellectual Property
The thread standards referenced within the App (including ISO, ASME, BS, ANSI, ASA, DIN, and others) are the intellectual property of their respective issuing bodies. ThreadChaser references publicly available nominal dimensional data from these standards for informational purposes. The Developer is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or acting on behalf of any standards organisation.
Users requiring definitive or legally compliant dimensional data should obtain and consult the current published edition of the relevant standard directly from the issuing body (e.g. ISO, ASME, BSI, ANSI, DIN).
6. User Responsibility
By using ThreadChaser, you acknowledge and agree that:
- You are solely responsible for verifying all thread identifications with appropriate calibrated instruments before acting on them;
- You are solely responsible for ensuring that any thread selected or used in your application is appropriate for its intended purpose, load, environment, and regulatory requirements;
- You have the skills and knowledge necessary to interpret the App's output correctly in the context of your specific application;
- You will seek the advice of a qualified engineer or inspector whenever there is any doubt about thread identification, compatibility, or suitability;
- You will not use this App as the sole or primary basis for any safety-critical decision.
7. App Availability
The Developer does not warrant that the App will be available at all times, that it will be free from errors or bugs, or that it will continue to be supported or updated. The App may be modified, suspended, or withdrawn at any time without notice. The Developer is not liable for any inconvenience or loss arising from unavailability of the App.
8. Governing Law
This Disclaimer is governed by the laws of The United Kingdom. Nothing in this Disclaimer is intended to limit any rights you may have under applicable mandatory consumer protection legislation that cannot be excluded by contract.
