1. Acceptance of Terms
By downloading, installing, or using ThreadChaser (the "App"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Use ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the App.
These Terms constitute a legally binding agreement between you ("User") and ThreadChaser ("Developer," "we," "us," or "our"), the individual or entity that developed and published ThreadChaser.
2. Description of the App
ThreadChaser is an iOS application that assists users in identifying and matching mechanical thread standards by comparing measured thread dimensions against a built-in reference database. The App supports a range of international and national thread standards including, but not limited to, Metric (ISO), UNC/UNF/UNEF (ASME), BSP/BSW/BSF/BA (BS), NPT (ASME), ACME, Buttress, Square, and Knuckle (DIN) threads.
The App is intended to serve as a reference and identification aid only. It is not a substitute for professional engineering judgment, formal metrology equipment, or certified inspection processes.
3. License Grant
Subject to these Terms, we grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to download and use the App on Apple devices that you own or control, solely for your personal or internal business purposes, in accordance with the Apple App Store Terms of Service.
You may not:
- Copy, modify, or distribute the App or any portion of it;
- Reverse-engineer, decompile, or disassemble the App;
- Use the App for any unlawful purpose or in violation of any applicable laws;
- Remove or alter any proprietary notices or labels in the App;
- Sublicence, sell, resell, or otherwise commercialise the App without our prior written consent.
4. Accuracy of Information and Measurement Disclaimer
While we have made reasonable efforts to ensure the accuracy of the thread data contained in the App — sourced from published ISO, ASME, BS, ANSI, ASA, and DIN standards — we make no representations or warranties regarding the completeness, accuracy, reliability, suitability, or availability of the data for any particular purpose.
You acknowledge that:
- All measurements and identifications should be verified with calibrated, traceable instruments before use in any engineering, manufacturing, or maintenance application;
- Thread standards evolve over time and the database may not reflect the most current revision of a given standard;
- The tolerance matching feature is a guide only and does not constitute a formal inspection or conformance certification;
- Improper thread identification and use can result in property damage, personal injury, or death. You assume all risk associated with reliance on App output.
5. In-App Purchases
The App may offer optional in-app purchases ("IAP") that unlock additional features or content. All purchases are processed through Apple's App Store and are subject to Apple's payment terms and policies.
In-app purchases are non-refundable except where required by applicable law or Apple's refund policies. To restore previously purchased content on a new or reinstalled device, use the "Restore Purchases" function within the App's Settings screen.
Prices for in-app purchases may change at any time. We are not responsible for any additional charges levied by your carrier or financial institution.
6. Intellectual Property
The App, including all content, design, graphics, software, and the underlying thread database, is owned by or licensed to the Developer and is protected by applicable copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws.
The names of thread standards (e.g. ISO, ASME, BS, DIN) and their associated dimensional data are referenced for informational purposes under fair use. ThreadChaser is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or officially associated with any standards body.
7. Privacy
Your use of the App is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated into these Terms by reference. By using the App you acknowledge that you have read and understood the Privacy Policy.
8. Third-Party Services
The App is distributed through the Apple App Store and is subject to Apple's standard end-user licence agreement (EULA) and terms of service. Apple is not a party to these Terms and is not responsible for the App or its content. Any claims arising in connection with the App (including product liability, legal compliance, or consumer protection claims) are the responsibility of the Developer, not Apple.
9. Disclaimer of Warranties
TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, THE APP IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE", WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, TITLE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT.
WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE APP WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, SECURE, OR FREE OF VIRUSES OR OTHER HARMFUL COMPONENTS, OR THAT ANY DEFECTS WILL BE CORRECTED.
10. Limitation of Liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, IN NO EVENT SHALL THE DEVELOPER, ITS OFFICERS, DIRECTORS, EMPLOYEES, OR AGENTS BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES — INCLUDING WITHOUT LIMITATION LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA, GOODWILL, OR OTHER INTANGIBLE LOSSES — ARISING OUT OF OR IN CONNECTION WITH YOUR USE OF OR INABILITY TO USE THE APP, EVEN IF ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES.
IN JURISDICTIONS THAT DO NOT ALLOW THE EXCLUSION OR LIMITATION OF CERTAIN WARRANTIES OR LIABILITIES, OUR LIABILITY SHALL BE LIMITED TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW. IN ALL OTHER CASES, OUR TOTAL CUMULATIVE LIABILITY TO YOU FOR ANY CLAIMS ARISING UNDER THESE TERMS SHALL NOT EXCEED THE AMOUNT YOU PAID FOR THE APP (OR AU$1.00 IF YOU USED THE APP WITHOUT PAYMENT).
11. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless the Developer and its affiliates, officers, agents, and employees from and against any claims, liabilities, damages, losses, costs, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of or relating to: (a) your use of the App in violation of these Terms; (b) your violation of any applicable law or regulation; or (c) any misuse of thread identification data obtained through the App.
12. Updates and Modifications
We reserve the right to update, modify, or discontinue the App (or any part of it) at any time, with or without notice. We are not liable to you or any third party for any modification, suspension, or discontinuation of the App.
We may update these Terms from time to time. The updated Terms will be posted at this URL with a revised effective date. Your continued use of the App after any changes constitutes acceptance of the new Terms.
13. Termination
We may suspend or terminate your access to the App immediately, without prior notice or liability, if you breach any provision of these Terms. Upon termination, your right to use the App will immediately cease. Sections 4, 6, 9, 10, 11, and 14 shall survive termination.
14. Governing Law and Dispute Resolution
These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of The United Kingdom, without regard to its conflict of law provisions. You agree to submit to the personal jurisdiction of the courts located in The United Kingdom for the resolution of any disputes arising under these Terms.
Nothing in this clause limits your rights as a consumer under applicable mandatory consumer protection laws.
15. Entire Agreement
These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy and any other legal notices published by us in the App, constitute the entire agreement between you and the Developer regarding your use of the App and supersede all prior agreements and understandings.
If any provision of these Terms is found to be invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue in full force and effect. Our failure to enforce any right or provision of these Terms shall not be deemed a waiver of such right or provision.
